Wayne A. Travis (1946-2020)

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 16, 1946, Wayne Travis’s younger years were spent in Hyde Park, where he graduated from Hyde Park High School with the Class of 1965. Following his graduation, Wayne enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Bennington C.V.S 20, earning the rank of Petty Officer Third Class, having the honor and privilege of serving with Bob Hope and Henry Fonda, prior to his honorable discharge in September of 1968. Upon his return home from the Navy, Wayne settled in Brookline and began taking courses at Boston State College, earning his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Following his graduation, Wayne took a position with the Town of Brookline, working as a water inspector.

Mass Installation, Inc. (MII), got its start in 1982 on Stone Street. As the company grew, Wayne Travis found an office at 916 Pleasant St. Norwood, which he outfitted in 1987 and is the oldest Water-meter installation firm in the country. As a dedicated CEO, Wayne maintained memberships in the American Water Works Association, New England Water Works Association, Massachusetts Water Works Association, Plymouth Country Water Works Association, Rural Water Association, Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Walpole Chamber of Commerce. MII carries on the legacy of Wayne Travis by fostering the company’s profile of excellence, distinction and prominence. 

Ann C. Travis (1952-2022)

Born in Lyon INN in Boston, Massachusetts on February 20, 1952, Ann C. Travis was the daughter of the late Leo F. and Frances C. (Hart) Tetreault.  She spent much of her childhood on Clark Avenue in Walpole, before her family moved to Pilgrim Way in East Walpole.  Ann graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1970 and continued her education at Berdette and Fisher Junior College.  Following her schooling, Ann took a position with Metal Bellows in Walpole and later began work at Dr. James Patton office with Norwood Eye Care Specialist.

Ann married her beloved husband, Wayne A. Travis, on October 23, 1976, at Mosley’s on the Charles in Dedham.  They initially made their home together on Georgia Drive in Walpole, where many of pool parties were had. Ann quickly went to work alongside Wayne at his company, Mass Installation, Inc.  In 1987, Ann and Wayne settled in Norfolk, Massachusetts, where they raised their two sons, Mark and Michael.  As her boys grew up, Ann returned to her education, first taking courses at Dean College to earn her associates degree and later graduating Summa Cum Laude from Suffolk University, earning both her bachelors and masters degrees.  Ann continued her career with MII, taking the position of vice president and co-owner.  After Wayne’s passing in 2020, Ann continued working alongside her sons, ensuring the company’s legacy would continue for years to come, until her untimely passing on August 7, 2022.
